Big Buddy Shoot Out

Members of the Wilmington Police Department will once again challenge members of the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Department in an exciting game of Basketball as the Big and Little Buddies watch on. Tickets are on sale at all local Papa Johns and at the Cape Fear Volunteer Center. Events include free door prizes, musical entertainment, food and basketball contests for the children. Admission tickets may be purchase in advance for $5.00 from the Police or Sheriff’s Departments and/or $8.00 day of the event. Doors open at 2:00pm. Kids under 12 must be with an adult. Come support our local Mentoring program for at risk youth and our local civil servants. All proceeds go to benefit the CFVC Big Buddy Program expenses. The money will be used to recruit, train, screen and manage new volunteers that work with little buddies, in addition the funds will be used to execute programming for those little buddies enrolled in the program. Big Buddy and the Cape Fear Volunteer Center is a key mentoring partner and program that assists in this effort of eliminating youth violence in the Wilmington Youth Enrichment Zone, a project of the Blue Ribbon Commission. This annual fundraiser is the main source of income to keep the case manager in place matching the buddies with the youth. The Cape Fear Volunteer Center is a 501c3 non-profit. CFVC currently receive no state, county, city or federal funding to operate Big Buddy, events like these are the key way we can keep Big Buddy going! Thanks for the support!
