CHECKER CAB gallery is proud to present Colleen Ringrose's latest encaustic interpretation “watermarks”. The inspiration for these new paintings comes from an unlikely source, a book for stamp collectors from 1936. Originally thinking it would be the stamps that would inspire her new work, it was the pictures of the watermarks in the paper used to authenticate the stamps from around the world. In Ringrose’s new paintings she presents them as modern icons set off by the explosions of color.
