Elizabeth A. Weirick

Beth Weirick has led Milwaukee Downtown, Business Improvement District #21 since its inception in 1998. With more than 20 years of management experience in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors, Weirick has been instrumental in the rebirth of downtown Milwaukee.

She oversees district operations for BID #21’s 150 square blocks, including managing clean, safe, and friendly initiatives such as the Public Service Ambassador and Clean Sweep Ambassador programs, Graffiti Removal Team and Landscape Crew. In addition, she continues to promote downtown as a destination through branding campaigns and the organization’s popular events – Downtown Dining Week, Downtown Employee Appreciation Week and the Milwaukee Holiday Lights Festival.

As a spokeswoman for BID #21 and the downtown Milwaukee community, Weirick advocates on a variety of issues pertaining to business retention and recruitment, public parking and transportation. Her most recent strides have included transforming the former Grand Theater ticket booth into a Visitor & Newcomer Information Center, reviving downtown Milwaukee’s trolley service along with other neighborhood organizations, coordinating a market analysis of the district to benchmark the BID’s progress, and starting retail and economic development programs within the organization.

Before leading Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21, Weirick served as the Executive Director of the Westown Association. Prior to her post at Westown, she held roles at the Milwaukee Common Council and Department of City Development in Economic Development.

A native of Milwaukee, Weirick’s positive attitude, contagious spirit and strong work ethic have earned her an array of accolades. In 2004, the Shepherd Express named Weirick “Milwaukeean of the Year” and in 2005 she received the Paragon Communicator Award from the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America. Additionally, Weirick has been recognized as a “40 under 40” and a “Milwaukee Woman of Influence” by the Milwaukee Business Journal.

Milwaukee Downtown, BID (Business Improvement District) #21 is an organization established in 1998 to support the interests of the downtown Milwaukee business community. Through BID #21 assessments, Milwaukee Downtown funds specific initiatives aimed at creating a clean, safe and friendly downtown. The district currently manages 150 blocks representing approximately 500 commercial property owners.
