“Co-Working” Shared Office Environment Drives Economic Development

Wilmington, North Carolina – June 1, 2011 – BuenaSpace, a shared office environment ("co-working" space), is proud to celebrate it's first year of operation and it’s recent award for Rehabilitation and Reuse of a Historic Building from the Historic Wilmington Foundation. Opened in May 2010 and the first of its kind in the region, BuenaSpace offers startups, freelancers, telecommuters, entrepreneurs and creative workers a professional work environment without any of the associated costs or long-term commitments. BuenaSpace is the first co-working space in Wilmington and is taking advantage of a nationwide trend where people are seeking an alternative to working in coffee shops and home offices.

According to John Hinnant, President & CEO of Wilmington Downtown Inc., "BuenaSpace has been tremendously successful in creating a working environment where ambitious people can thrive. It is a great model for economic development for historic downtown Wilmington and the region."

Jonathan Rowe, Director of UNCW’s Entrepreneurship Center adds, “The co-working office space concept has become very popular nationwide and more recently in North Carolina. It’s great to see BuenaSpace offer a place for those whose work doesn’t fit into a traditional work model.”
