Custom-Built Boats Featured at CFCC's Boat Show this Saturday

WILMINGTON - Custom-built boats of all shapes and sizes will be converging at Cape Fear Community College on Saturday at the 12th annual CFCC Boat Show.

The event is an annual celebration of the craft of boat building and will feature many classic boats like the Simmons Sea Skiff, first built right here in Wilmington in the mid 1950s. The show will also include newly constructed boats made by area residents and students in the college's boat building program.

A small group of amateur boat builders will be attempting to complete their own wooden row boats with help from CFCC instructors and students.

Kids can even get in on the action by building their own toy boat, courtesy of Home Depot. Major sponsors this year include local Carolina Skiff dealer Marine Warehouse and Sea Tow.

Boats will be on display from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. along the college's riverfront and in front of the Emmart Building on Water St. There's no charge to visit the show and parking in the college's Nutt St. parking deck will also be free on Saturday.
