PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

Wilmington Downtown, Inc. (WDI) is kicking off its sixth season of the Downtown Sundown Concert Series on May 27th with Appetite for Destruction, The Ultimate GnR Tribute. Please check www.wilmingtondowntown.com/downtownsundown for a complete line-up.

Through their founding partner, RA Jeffrey’s, WDI has partnered with Good Vibes Brewing Company. Good Vibes, a micro brewery locally owned and operated in Carolina Beach, will be featured at each show. Windham Distributing CO will be Downtown Sundown’s wine distributor, featuring the Barefoot brand at all shows. WDI has also partnered with a local start-up company, Pipeline Event Management, for security. Pipeline has managed events for the City of Wilmington at the Greenfield Lake Amphitheatre and the Brooklyn Arts Center. Downtown Sundown’s media partners, all locally owned, include Sea-Com, encore and WSFX. Opening performances will be all local/original Wilmington acts. Three headline acts are also local: Machine Gun, SRVT (Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute) and Onward, Soldiers.

This year WDI will be selling wristbands for $1.00 per person at Downtown Sundown, and splitting the proceeds with local charities and non-profit organizations each week. The Cape Fear Chapter of the American Red Cross, CFCC Foundation, YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear, Wilmington Harbor Enhancement Trust, Port City Ruritan, Techniques in Motion, Cape Fear Green Building Alliance, Kids Making It, the Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation and Cape Fear Birthday Smiles have all registered for different dates.

In an effort to encourage recycling, aluminum cans will be featured along with draft. WDI will be producing a souvenir cup, which can be refilled with the purchase of one drink ticket. Commemorative Downtown Sundown T-shirts, to be sold for $10.00, will be available each week in limited supply. WDI encourages everyone to come early and enjoy any of the great dining locations downtown has to offer.
