Wilmington, NC - Last Friday, June 22, the Frontiers headlined the Downtown Sundown Concert Series with opening act 40 East. Through the charity wristband program, Wilmington Downtown Inc. (WDI), was able to donate the maximum amount of $1,000 for the first time to the YWCA of the Lower Cape Fear. The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
"We were grateful to be chosen as one of the non-profits to benefit from the Downtown Sundown Concert Series this summer. It is always a pleasure to work with the staff and volunteers at Wilmington Downtown Inc., and such a fun event to be a part of," says Susan Fennell, YWCA Executive Director.
The funds raised will be used to enhance the YWCA's Tot Spot Preschool and Kindergarten's playground, which features developmentally appropriate equipment for children aged 2 and under.
Wristbands will be sold for $1.00 per person at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series for the remainder of the summer. WDI will split the proceeds with local charities and nonprofit organizations each week up to $1,000. Please visit wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates.
