Wilmington, NC - Last Friday, July 20, Madonna Nash headlined at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series. Through the charity wristband program, this concert raised $315 dollars for the Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry (WARM). This program entitles a selected charity to half of the proceeds from wristband sales at the corresponding concert in exchange for four (4) volunteers on behalf of that charity. Wilmington Downtown Inc. (WDI), the non-profit organization responsible for coordinating the concert series, has been able to donate over $6,000 to other local organizations thus far in 2012.
WARM unites people of compassion to rebuild homes and restore hope for our low-income neighbors, many of whom are elderly or disabled, and enables them to live safely and independently in their own homes and communities.
"At WARM, we were honored to partner with WDI to improve the quality of life in downtown. We will use the WDI funds to buy paint to help preserve a historic home on the SouthSide or install an air conditioner for a low-income family in the downtown area," says Jeannie Skane, Executive Director of WARM.
