Machine Gun, a local band, will headline the show at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series this Saturday, September 10. Opening act Medusa Stone will begin at 6:00pm in Riverfront Park, followed by Machine Gun at 8:00pm. This show, originally scheduled for August 29, was rescheduled for this Saturday due to Hurricane Irene. Half of the proceeds raised from wristband sales will benefit Cape Fear Birthday Smiles.

Cape Fear Birthday Smiles Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is helping make birthday celebrations a reality, not a luxury, for families in various circumstances across New Hanover County. The heart behind their parties is to allow the children to celebrate themselves on their special day, allowing them a moment to be the STAR and have some normalcy in their otherwise fluctuating lives. Birthday Smiles celebrated over 70 birthdays in the 2010 - 2011 school year and is looking forward to even more celebrations this year.

"We are excited to be working with WDI at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series, and are thankful for the opportunity to raise awareness for these children. The funds that are raised on Saturday night will be a great start to the new school year," says Jodie Sperry Martinez, Vice President of Cape Fear Birthday Smiles.

Downtown Sundown has raised over $8,000 for local charities this summer. Please visit www.wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates.
