PRESS RELEASE

This Friday, August 5, The Dave Matthews Tribute Band will play at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series. Sai Collins will open at 6:00pm in Riverfront Park, followed by The DMTB at 8:00pm. This week, half of the wristband proceeds will benefit Kids Making It.

Kids Making It is a youth micro-enterprise that offers at-risk teens long-term, consistent mentorship, vocational instruction, and entrepreneurial training. Job placement and college admissions assistance are offered as well to help them transition successfully from high school into college or the workforce. Kids Making It also serves youth who are high-functioning autistic or with Asperger's Syndrome. Recommended as a national model program, KMI has won numerous national, state and local awards for its work.

"We are very excited about this opportunity to join with our friends at WDI to make this event happen. As a long-time downtown fixture at our shops at 15 South Water Street, we are committed to downtown and all that it offers all of our residents." says KMI Associate Director Jeff Citrin.

Kids Making It will use the funds raised to purchase wood and supplies for teens to make the products they sell. Wristbands will be sold for $1.00 per person at Downtown Sundown for the remainder of the series. WDI will be splitting the proceeds with local charities and nonprofit organizations each week up to $1,000. Visit www.wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates.
