PRESS RELEASE
Tuesday's Gone, Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute, will headline the show at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series this Friday, September 2. Opening act Medusa Stone will begin at 6:00pm in Riverfront Park, followed by Tuesday's Gone at 8:00pm. This Friday's concert will also include a special WDI Partner Appreciation event. Half of the proceeds raised from wristband sales will benefit the Cape Fear Literacy Council (CFLC).
CFLC is an independent non-profit organization, chartered in 1985. The Council is opening doors and changing lives by providing adults with free and confidential instruction in reading, writing, spelling, math and speaking English. Serving over 450 adults in the 2011 program year, CFLC's efforts are made possible by hundreds of volunteer tutors and instructors. For more information, please visit www.cfliteracy.org.
"Cape Fear Literacy Council is grateful to WDI for the opportunity to raise funds and awareness of our services through the Downtown Sundown Concert Series. The funds raised at the event will buy workbooks and tutor manuals for our students and tutors," says Executive Director Linda Lytvinenko.
Wristbands will be sold for $1.00 per person at Downtown Sundown for the remainder of the series. WDI will be splitting the proceeds with local charities and nonprofit organizations each week up to $1,000. Visit www.wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates. Please note that the August 26 show has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 10.
