FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Satisfaction, Rolling Stones Tribute, will play at the Downtown Sundown Concert Series this Friday, August 12. Medusa Stone Acoustic will open at 6:00pm in Riverfront Park, followed by Satisfaction at 8:00pm. This week, half of the proceeds raised from wristband sales will benefit the Cape Fear Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
The mission of the Surfrider Foundation is to protect and enjoy oceans, waves and beaches through a powerful activist network. The Cape Fear Chapter is currently working to help reduce marine plastics by educating people and government leaders. They are also working to improve recycling efforts and create legislation that helps reduce items like single-use grocery bags and plastic water bottles. Additionally, they coordinate an educational program that places college students in local elementary and middle schools to educate tomorrow's leaders. The majority of the funds raised during this event will support these projects.
"The ability to work with WDI during the Downtown Sundown Concert Series allows our organization to reach a large population of people and educate them on the issues that impact our world's oceans, waves and beaches. We look forward to working with our community to make sure that all people have fair access to our coastal resources and are educated about issues that have environmental and financial impacts on our coastal home," says Sean Ahlum, Chair of the Cape Fear Chapter and Secretary for the Board of Directors of the Surfrider Foundation.
Wristbands will be sold for $1.00 per person at Downtown Sundown for the remainder of the series. WDI will be splitting the proceeds with local charities and nonprofit organizations each week up to $1,000. Visit www.wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates.
