PRESS RELEASE

This Friday, July 22, the Downtown Sundown Concert Series will feature Slippery When Wet, a Bon Jovi tribute band starting at 8:00pm. Sound Down Shore will open the concert at 6:00pm in Riverfront Park. This week, half of the wristband proceeds will go to UNCW's Masters in Public Administration Graduate Student Association to raise funds for professional conferences to help students network and meet other public administrators.

The MPA Graduate Student Association was founded in the fall of 2008 when a niche for professional development and advocacy of MPA students was identified. The MPA-GSA is a student-led organization providing professional development, community service, networking and social opportunities for students in the MPA program.

"As students who are engaged in understanding and practicing local economic development we recognize and appreciate WDI's role in the process and look forward to assisting and strengthening the relationship WDI has with UNCW's MPA program in the future," says Emmitt C. Owens, President of the organization.

Wristbands will be sold for $1.00 per person at Downtown Sundown for the remainder of the series. WDI will be splitting the proceeds with local charities and nonprofit organizations each week up to $1,000. Visit www.wilmingtondowntown.com for a list of charities and corresponding dates.
