Wilmington, NC - On Friday, August 10, The Breakfast Club headlined the Downtown Sundown Concert Series along with opening act Teenage Dream, a Katy Perry Tribute. Through the charity wristband program, this concert raised $565 for Cape Fear Birthday Smiles (CFBS). CFBS is helping make birthday celebrations a reality, not a luxury, for families in a variety of circumstances across New Hanover County.
"It was truly a privilege to work with the dedicated, hard-working staff and volunteers at the Downtown Sundown concert. 100% of the proceeds from that evening will go towards the purchase of gifts, party supplies, and disposable cameras. The opportunity to collaborate with WDI and the resulting contribution will allow us to make a bigger impact on the community and to celebrate even more birthdays this upcoming school year," says Shannon Whitaker, co-founder of Cape Fear Birthday Smiles.
The Downtown Sundown Concert Series is coordinated by Wilmington Downtown, Inc. (WDI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the economic growth and development of downtown Wilmington. Wristbands are sold for $1 per person at each concert to those drinking alcohol. The charity wristband program entitles a different organization to half of the proceeds from wristband sales up to $1,000 each week.
