WDI Welcomes New Board Members

Wilmington, NC—WDI held its annual meeting on Wednesday, June 30 to vote for the 2010-2011 Board of Directors. Members met to conclude the 2009-2010 fiscal year. After addressing the end of year business, President Alice Mitchell presented a slate of proposed board members for the 2010-11 fiscal year. Several members of the executive committee offered an alternate slate, a motion allowed in the by-laws but never before utilized in a WDI annual meeting. After much discussion, a vote was called and the substitute slate passed with a majority vote.

WDI is proud to welcome its new executive committee, headed by President David Spetrino, Jr. Spetrino, a downtown resident and owner of several successful businesses, has been active in the community for many years. As owner of Plantation Building Corp, he has been influential in the construction and redevelopment of many buildings and areas in downtown Wilmington. He is also an ardent supporter of local efforts, such as the Brooklyn Arts District and Historic Wilmington Foundation.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of Wilmington Downtown Inc.’s leadership team,” said Spetrino. “The opportunity to work with other like-minded stakeholders is exciting and I look forward to being a part of more great things happening for our Downtown.”
Other members of the executive committee include: Lee Hill as Treasurer, David Hardin as Vice President of Central Business District Services, Andrew Cooke as Vice President of Economic Development, Cathey Luna as Vice President of Marketing and Fundraising, and Donna Ray Mitchell as Vice President of Planning.
