Diaries provide intimate - and often fascinating - accounts of history. Eliza Clitherall, a colonial woman and daughter of John Burgwin, produced a 17-volume diary, which is the inspiration for a presentation by historian Donna Pope. On March 10 at 6:00pm, Ms. Pope will lead a talk about the similarities of women’s lives then and now. She will specifically address the notion of duty to family and community, while at the same time painting the colonial landscape of the Lower Cape Fear according to Eliza. Admission is free: $5 donation suggested.
