2:30pm FREE On the hundredth anniversary of the U.S.’s entrance into World War I, experience the conflict through a Wilmington soldier’s letters home. In spring 1917, First Lieutenant Edward Manning Hardin volunteered for service and was sent to Europe with the 30th Division, alongside many other Wilmingtonians. Ed Hawfield, Hardin’s grandson, will talk about his service drawing on the more than 150 letters the Lieutenant wrote home.
