Join us at the Bellamy Museum for a lecture with Dr. Melton McLaurin as he explores the lives of three enslaved women and their experiences with sexual exploitation, which was an inevitable aspect of slavery. Celia lived on a Missouri farm. Margaret Garner lived on a Kentucky plantation. Harriet Jacobs lived in a North Carolina town. Mothers all, their lives exemplify the methods of resistance enslaved women employed and the different results, and the reasons for them, their methods obtained.
