STAR MARK • PANTHEON • EXILIC DANCES Utah’s most established institution for contemporary dance, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company actively embraces and commissions the work of contemporary choreographers, tours worldwide, and develops dynamic education and community outreach programming. The Wilson Center will present three works: • Star Mark (2016), by Joanna Kotze, challenges conventional notions of beauty and normality through a complex web of highly physical movement. • Pantheon (2017) by Raja Feather Kelly, transposes the paganism and sacrifice of the Stravinsky/Nijinsky Rite of Spring to the 21st-century world of global pop culture, and the inherent sacrifices it demands of its audience.” • Exilic Dances (2017) by Company Artistic Director Daniel Charon. Set to the invigorating rhythms of klezmer music, Exilic Dances is a musical theater-styled exploration of the irony and perils associated with immigration.
