The Sweet Lillies’ high-energy, melodic tunes have quickly captured the hearts and music souls of fans in Colorado and beyond. The band, formed in November of 2013, credits its appeal to the original and compelling songwriting of all four of its members. The magnetic combination of Julie Gussaroff on the upright bass, Becca Bisque on the viola, Danjo Lynn on the banjo and Melly Frances on percussion and guitar–together with powerful three-part female harmony–give this band a rare and alluring sound.
Vanessa is known for her light-hearted, cheerful, and free spirit. The singer-songstress was born in West Islip, NY, where she lived until the age of ten (10) years old. As a child, she was passionate about music, especially the pop genre, and would frequently sing to anyone who would listen. Her family moved to Duplin County, North Carolina, and have resided there ever since. As a teen, Vanessa struggled through the common hurdles which all teens face: breakups, conflicts with friends, and crushes. Vanessa turned to a small keyboard her grandmother bought her, and an electric guitar she received as a gift. She learned how to play the instruments mainly by ear She also played the flute in the concert band in high school. Vanessa has been writing songs ever since those teen days, and continues to write about love, pain, and the in-between. She attended the University of North Carolina Wilmington and received a Bachelors of Arts degree in Music (voice), where she studied classical and jazz vocal techniques. She also holds a Bachelors of Arts degree in Communication Studies from UNCW and an MBA from Ashford University. Throughout college to the present, she performs as a lead singer in various cover/original bands (such as her own "Vanessa Lynch Band, and The Surge, Capricious, and Leafless), leads church services, sings at funerals and weddings, and records with local musicians as a back up singer and songwriter. Vanessa frequently collaborates with other musicians to create original music which exhibit the realness of her life and emotions, and dreams to write songs in which people can connect and relate.
