A Quick Rundown of the Services Provided by the MSD Ambassadors

Posted Aug 5th, 2019 in Feat of the Week

The summer is a great time to get out and about with your family and explore Downtown Wilmington. With hundreds of shops, restaurants, attractions and entertainment venues, there are plenty of things to see and do.

The streets are busy day and night with locals and visitors and the Municipal Service District Ambassadors are patrolling the center city on foot to provide help when needed. They want to ensure Downtown is safe and inviting for everyone.

All the Ambassadors act as extra eyes and ears for local law enforcement and report any criminal activity they observe in the center city. The Ambassadors wearing the green shirts keep an eye out for trash and will respond to reports of stickers and graffiti. They clean up any blight observed or reported in a timely manner. The Ambassadors wearing the bright orange shirts provide hospitality services. They check in with merchants, interact with locals and visitors and offer assistance when needed.

Ambassadors can also answer questions about places to shop, dine or play. They can give you a comprehensive, pocket-sized guide that lists attractions, restaurants, shops, galleries and more so you can locate places you want to visit. The Ambassadors assist with directions and explain the parking options downtown. They also provide concierge assistance and will escort you safely back to your car if requested. And, if it rains, they will share an umbrella with you.

The Ambassador team is available seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.  Hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

They can be also be reached during operating hours by emailing ambassador@wilmingtondowntown.com.
