Add the Alt-Zalea Festival to Your weekend Wish List

Posted Apr 5th, 2019 in Weekend Wish List

Be bold and dare to be different this weekend. Take a break from the mainstream Azalea Festival activities on Saturday and ride the free trolley to the Brooklyn Arts District on North 4th Street in Downtown Wilmington. Why? Because there are lots of exciting things happening there at the fourth annual Alt-Zalea Fest.

From 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., you can enjoy live music at a number of different venues. This event is kid-friendly and the live music is FREE so bring all your friends and family!

Participating venues include Detour Deli & Cafe, Bottega Art Bar & Gallery, Brooklyn Cafe, The Foxes Boxes, Goat & Compass, and Edward Teach Brewing.

This is an awesome way to hear original music from a selection of local musicians. Check out the full line-up:

If you prefer something different, decorate your bike with lights and join the first Lighted Bike Parade starting at 7:30 p.m. behind the Brooklyn Café and ending at 9:00 p.m. to raise awareness about bike safety and celebrate cycling as a fun form of transportation.

The only criteria are that all bikes must have lights and children 16 and under must wear helmets. Donations will be accepted for the charity, A Bike For Every Child.

The Brooklyn Arts District in Downtown Wilmington is THE place to be for alternative entertainment this Saturday.
