Alleyway Gets a Much-Needed Clean-Up

Posted Dec 16th, 2019 in Feat of the Week

While you’re busy with holiday shopping and preparations, the Municipal Service District (MSD) Ambassadors continue to make Downtown Wilmington cleaner for you and others to enjoy.

Some alleyways downtown may not get much foot traffic, but they are susceptible to blight and trash. One of the roles of the Ambassadors is to maintain a clean urban environment through a comprehensive program of sidewalk cleaning, pressure washing, graffiti removal, trash and leaf pick up, and weed removal. During their daily foot patrols throughout the center city, the Ambassadors make a note of areas that need cleaning and get the job done.

Recently, Smith Alley and Cabic Alley, which border either side of Front Street Brewery between North Front Street and Water Street, needed attention so the Ambassadors cleaned them up. We think you’ll notice a big improvement. Keeping Downtown Wilmington clean makes it more inviting for people who live, work, shop, dine and play here. In the spirit of the season, be sure to thank the Ambassadors for all their hard work.

If you know of any areas in the center city that need attention, please reach out to an Ambassador. Team members are available seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday. Hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
