Ambassadors Improve Safety Downtown

Posted Oct 29th, 2018 in Feat of the Week

One of the main objectives of the Municipal Service District (MSD) is safety. Having the Ambassadors patrolling the streets by foot helps ensure that Downtown Wilmington is a safe and inviting place for visitors and people who work and live in the MSD.

The Ambassadors are uniformed and charged with this responsibility seven days a week from morning until after dark—as late as 11:00 p.m. at weekends. They can be identified easily because they wear bright orange shirts with the word, “Ambassador” emblazoned across the back.

You can stop an Ambassador in the street to share your safety concerns or you can call or text 910-524-3600. Did you know you can also call an Ambassador to escort you back to your car after attending an event? This is one of the services the Ambassadors provide for your safety.

As the eyes and ears of local law enforcement, the MSD Ambassadors will also report crime or any unusual activity they encounter while on patrol. The safety of Downtown residents, businesses and visitors is one of their primary goals.

To report a safety concern, call an Ambassador during these hours by phone or text at 910.524.3600

Hours: Mon – Thurs 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Fri/Sat 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Sun 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
