Downtown Has It All—Theater, Jazz, Comedy and Rock

Year-round, Downtown Wilmington is the place to be for great food, entertainment and culture. At this time of year, it’s an even better time to catch a show, share some laughs or enjoy a concert because the holidays are behind you and you have time to catch a breath before the tourists arrive. Come on downtown this weekend and have some fun with your friends at one of these great events.



For all the Michael Jackson fans out there, Thalian Hall is staging a power-packed performance of “Who’s Bad,” a must-see musical that has been thrilling audiences for fourteen years. Friday, 7:30 p.m.

If you’ve never experienced a dinner show, Theater Now’s “Senior Moments 2: Betta Daze” would be a great place to start. Enjoy a three-course meal while being entertained. This show is about a technology-challenged senior, Michelle, who gets a robot assistant, Betta. What could possibly go wrong? Doors 6:00 p.m. Show 7:00 p.m. Tickets 

 

Need some laughs to blow away the winter blues? Dead Crow Comedy has the perfect show for you. Mekki Leeper is fresh off an appearance on the Late Late Show with James Corden and is guaranteed to make you smile. Choose from one of two show times Friday or Saturday night, 7:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. Tickets


 

If you enjoy being entertained by jazz musicians, Hotel Ballast is hosting the 2019 N C Jazz Festival. Each night features seven sets with six or seven musicians in each set. Be prepared to be blown away by some great jazz starting at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets 

Prefer to sing along to your favorite hits from rock legends, Led Zeppelin? The Wilson Center is hosting the Led Zeppelin tribute band, No Quarter, a group whose singers both look and sound like the original British rock stars. These guys are as close as you’ll get to the real deal. This event is also a fundraiser to help people around the Cape Fear region impacted by Hurricane Florence. Saturday, 7:30 p.m. Tickets
