Downtown is the Place to Shop for all the Family

Posted Sep 20th, 2019 in Weekend Wish List

Fall is a great time to get outside and enjoy the fresh air and cooler days. It’s also a good time get ahead of the curve and take some of the stress out of holiday shopping. Downtown Wilmington has lots of options to help you achieve this.

The center city has over 100 stores selling a wide range of merchandise for all the family. Most of the shops are locally owned and operated which means you’ll enjoy a familiarity not available at the big box stores. Merchants often go the extra mile to make sure your shopping experience is a pleasure.

You’ll have even more choices of places to shop this Saturday with the return of the American Craft Walk Wilmington (ACWW) which brings a plethora of artists and craftsmen to the center city. Almost 100 vendors will line Front Street and the 100-block of Orange Street.

Local artists from Wilmington include Mike Bryand, a photographer and owner of The Bryand Gallery; Ronald Williams, who specializes in pen and ink and watercolors and Becca Semon, a photographer. Amy Grant of Art in Bloom Gallery will be showcasing the art work of several North Carolina artists. Shop the ACWW, Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The ACWW is held in conjunction with the Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center’s fifth annual juried ARTfall exhibit. The two events seamlessly connect because this year’s ACWW has been extended out to Orange Street. ARTfall features the works of established artists and newcomers and a variety of mediums are showcased at the exhibition and sale. ARTfall is open to the public from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through Sunday and a reception will be held for the artists on Saturday afternoon.
