Even Hidden Areas of Downtown Need Some TLC

Posted Sep 23rd, 2019 in Feat of the Week

The MSD Ambassadors and the City of Wilmington cleaning crew do a great job of keeping Downtown Wilmington in good shape. You may even be fooled into believing it always looks this good! That’s because much of the work is done outside of business hours and sometimes before the sun rises.

The Ambassadors’ daily foot patrols include taking note of areas that may not get a lot of foot traffic but may be prone to weeds and other debris. One of these areas is underneath the walkway between the 100-block of Front Street and the Water Street Center. The construction of River Place on the next block has restricted access to this area; however, it is still visible and can be unsightly, especially for the residents at Water Street Center.

Last week, the Ambassadors worked their magic, pulled weeds and cleaned up the area. We think you’ll agree, it looks much better!  One of the roles of the Ambassadors is to maintain a clean urban environment through a comprehensive program of sidewalk cleaning, pressure washing, graffiti removal, trash and leaf pick up, and weed removal.

If you know of any areas in the center city that need attention, please reach out to an Ambassador. Team members are available seven days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday.  Hours on Fridays and Saturdays are 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

They can be also be reached during operating hours by phone (910) 524-3600, or by emailing ambassador@wilmingtondowntown.com.
