2018 was a tough year for our local environment, especially because of the impact of Hurricane Florence on the Cape Fear River, so now would be a good time to find out what the community can do to support the Cape Fear Fishery again.
Tonight, there will be a silent and a live auction and banquet at the Coastline Convention Center. You can bid on fishing gear and tackle, beach vacations, adventure tours, unique art pieces and more at the auction while enjoying a delicious catered dinner, beverages and music.
Saturday is a day full of fun and education starting with a River Science Forum at 9:00 a.m. You can also take part in a unique tag and release fishing tournament or learn from the experts by attending a Cape Fear River, striped bass, fishing tactics seminar.
Take a break and cruise up the Cape Fear River with Wilmington Water Tours for $5/person or $20/family. Bring the family for fun booths, a puppet show, face painting, fish games and puzzles between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. FREE entry!
With the promise of good weather tomorrow, why not make a day of it? You can walk the 1.75-mile long RiverWalk or browse the shops downtown; most are just a block or two from the river. Explore The Cotton Exchange, grab a bagel from Tugboat Tony’s in the Water Street Center, or enjoy one of the many fabulous restaurants and entertainment venues in the center city.
