After the spectacular fireworks display in Downtown Wilmington on July 4th, you’re probably wondering what to do during the rest of the holiday weekend. Beyond the obvious mainstream activities, we’ve found some under-the-radar events you might like to consider as alternatives.

Fun: Carmen Lagala performs at Dead Crow Comedy Room
This New York City-based, stand-up comedian will endear you with her small-town charm. Yet, she made her debut on the Stephen Colbert Late Night Show in 2018 and has charmed audiences at Comedy Central, the 2018 New York Comedy Festival, the Women in Comedy Festival and more. Her jokes are described as smart, dark, dirty and playful! Shows: Fri July 5th, Sat July 6th, 7:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Tickets: $15. Event Information


Art: Loving Boats at Cape Fear Artists Gallery
Nurture your creative side and discover new artwork at the opening night of Cape Fear Artists group juried show, “Loving Boats”. The exhibition is FREE to visit and runs through July 27th. Gallery hours: Mon-Sat, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Event Information




Film: The Wilmington Film Museum is back!
Explore local film history (Cape Fear Region), sports movies and a “tools of the trade” artifacts exhibit at the Hannah Block Historic USO. The exhibits are displayed throughout the summer months and the museum is FREE to visit. Hours (for HBHUSO): Mon-Thurs, 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., Fri, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sat, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Closed Sundays. Event Information


Drama: Immersive Theater at Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
Hosted by the Revelry Players, Oedipus Wrecked is an adaptation of the Ancient Greek mystery play originally written by Sophocles. The stage is set among the audience and participation (no matter how wild) is encouraged. Showtime: Sun July 7th 6:00 p.m. Tickets: $10 each. Event Information
