Described as a destination location by owner, Kevin Rhodes, Palate Bottle Shop is a welcome sight at the intersection of North 4th and Davis Streets. It’s a place where you can buy wine and beer, listen to live music while enjoying cookouts or food trucks and attend events in a relaxed atmosphere.
Nestled at the north end of the thriving Brooklyn Arts District in Downtown Wilmington, Palate overlooks PPD and is within eyeshot of Cape Fear Community College’s Wilson Center of Humanities and Fine Arts. Since opening up four years ago, Palate has become a popular place for after-work gatherings and parties because people love the feeling of the space.
The décor and the layout reflect a casual, open environment where you can gather with friends and feel a positive energy. You can also socialize outside on the covered patio and when the sun goes down, cozy up around the outdoor fireplace.
At Palate, you’ll find a curated list of beer and wine put together by experts. With 14 beer taps and wine available by the glass, Rhodes invites you to enjoy the Palate experience with friends or co-workers. Hundreds of bottled beers and wines are also available to purchase. As Rhodes says, “Everyone’s palate is different so there really is no wrong choice.” You will find many local brews in stock.
Locals supporting locals create a firm foundation for businesses like Palate and Rhodes credits the success of the business to his fabulous neighbors in the Brooklyn Arts District.
If you want to feel the vibe of this trendy neighborhood, ride the free, downtown trolley to North 4th Street and check out Palate Bottle Shop. It’s a great place to hold meetings, events or parties and Palate can host events for up to 150 people. With the holidays approaching, this might be the perfect venue for your holiday party.
