Farmers’ markets add another degree of distinctiveness to the “shop local” trend and there’s something very wholesome about buying produce that has been grown at a local farm or choosing a unique, hand-made work of art directly from the artist.
Every Saturday morning along the riverfront in Downtown Wilmington, you can find a wide variety of goods including fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, seafood, and artisan crafts. From the end of March through to mid-November, multiple vendors line both sides of Water Street selling their goods from beneath pop-up tents.
Since its inception 15 years ago, the Riverfront Farmers’ Market has not only developed a core of vendors who come back year after year, it has also gained a loyal local following. We had a recent review from a customer who bought Snapper from 10-year market veteran, Davis Seafood. The customer reported grilling the filets and said it was the best her family ever had. Recommendations like that say it all.
Note: All vendors and products have to be NCDA-certified and must pass health department inspections.
The Farmers Market is open Saturdays during the growing
season from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Riverfront Park.
