Wilmington Downtown is a thriving place for people to live, work, shop, dine and enjoy so it’s important to keep it looking sharp. Occasionally, our beautiful city is spoiled by blight from graffiti vandals. Thankfully, the Municipal Service District (MSD) Ambassadors are on hand to take action.
Keeping the center city clean is one of the roles of the MSD Ambassadors. Sometimes, they discover graffiti during their daily foot patrols; other times, it is reported. Once the graffiti has been recorded, the Ambassadors respond quickly to remove the blight. When the graffiti is on private property, the owner’s permission is required before any action is taken.
The method of removing graffiti depends on the nature of the structure that has been tarnished. Where possible, pressure washing or special chemicals are used for the clean-up. Sometimes, it’s necessary to paint over the blight.
This week, graffiti was discovered on the sidewalk in front of Port City Java on North Front Street. The Ambassadors worked quickly to remove it.
In order to keep our center city beautiful, we encourage citizens to report graffiti vandalism so that it can be dealt with quickly.
