Round off Your Summer in Downtown Wilmington

Posted Aug 31st, 2018 in Weekend Wish List

Experience this Labor Day weekend in Downtown Wilmington. With over 100 shops, 90 eateries, 34 entertainment venues, no fewer than 20 art galleries, and five theaters, we have something for everyone!

And, that’s not all—there are tours, markets, live music, breweries, and museums. You can rent a bike; ride a trolley; learn to ride a Segway; ride the Port City Brew Bus…or the East Coast Brew Boat; rent a jet-ski or a pontoon to cruise the Cape Fear River; or even book a private charter. You can visit a historic property like Bellamy Mansion, Latimer House, or the Burgwin-Wright House, walk the Riverwalk, attend a show or movie, test your detective skills at one of the Escape Rooms, or take a horse-and-carriage ride.

Parking is easy too—enjoy FREE parking for one hour in any of the City or County parking decks (only $1 per hour thereafter), or park on-street for $1.25 per hour in metered spots. Private lots are also available. Once parked, you can ride the FREE Downtown Trolley and try the new test route that will run during  September.

The new route connects destinations like the Front Street, the Cape Fear Museum, Castle Street Antiques District and the Brooklyn Arts District.

Want to know more about Downtown history? Schedule a walking tour! If you like to buy local produce and crafts browse the Riverfront Farmer’s Market at your leisure Saturday morning and the Historic Downtown Marketplace Artisan Market Sunday morning, both located at Riverfront Park.

If you’re feeling adventurous, book seats on a river cruise Saturday morning and in the afternoon, reserve a spot on the Taste of Downtown Wilmington Tour to sample a selection of Carolina gourmet food from local restaurants. Movie buffs can join the Hollywood Location Walk one afternoon and, once the sun goes down, the Haunted Pub Crawl or the Ghost Walk of Old Wilmington are spine-chillingly good.

Enjoy live music? Check out events at local entertainment venues.

By Monday evening, you’ll be ready to round off the weekend with a Cinematique movie at Thalian Hall and will know how lucky you are to have so many things to do in Downtown Wilmington
