It’s obvious what makes Rx Restaurant on Castle Street a success—chef and co-owner, James Doss, and his enthusiasm for the business he loves. Well, that and the mouth-watering, culinary delights he creates by staying true to locally sourced food and by pairing simple ingredients to create unforgettable dishes! Inspired by the local farmers, Doss claims it’s his job not to mess it up!
He builds his menus around what’s in season so, other than year-round staples, the menu changes frequently. Ingredients to watch out for in August include figs, okra, watermelons, and tomatoes. Who knew figs could be transformed into a vinaigrette, a savory sauce, a dessert, and a cocktail! Delicious!
As for Doss, a Wilmington resident, when he and his business partner sought out the location six years ago, they envisioned a community restaurant with a “Cheers-type” vibe where everyone knows each other’s names. It seems like they scored on all fronts in this popular little hub.
