You can’t beat Capricho in Downtown Wilmington for authentic food from south of the border. Whether you want tacos, empanadas, tamales, quesadillas or elotes, Capricho can satisfy your craving with its high-quality fare, hand-made with love. In case you were wondering, the word, “Capricho” actually means, “a whim or a craving.”
Dedicated chefs and co-owners, Aaron Johnson and Daniel Souden, do double duty preparing food and managing their new venture while still working as chefs at other restaurants. When the opportunity arose to have their own restaurant, it was too good to pass up so, undeterred by construction on Princess Street, they opened the restaurant this summer and business at Capricho has been strong.
Johnson is inspired by the customers and the joy that food brings to them. He loves to see the look of satisfaction on their faces when they eat; it keeps him motivated to serve up tasty, affordable food for visitors and people who live and work downtown. One of the most popular fillings is the carné asada—steak which is prepared in a delicious marinade—the aroma from cooking this is heavenly!
If you haven’t yet eaten at Capricho and want to sample different fillings, Taco Tuesdays are always a good time to experience the 4-Flight Special. You won’t be disappointed. And, if you’re stuck at work or live a little further away, you can get delivery via Uber Eats for added convenience.
