The spooky season is upon us and Downtown Wilmington has some eerie activities lined up to prepare you for things that go bump in the night.

Prepare for some spine-chilling Monster Movie Madness after dark at The Bellamy Mansion. Dress up and bring a lawn chair to watch one or two hauntingly classic movies at this free event.

Donations are welcome and food and beverages can be purchased.

Show Times: Friday, October 25, 7:00 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.

Lighten up Halloween with “Laughing in the Dark,” an evening of spooky, sketch comedy at the Ruth and Becky Stein Theater at Thalian Hall. Inspired by the notion that many people are afraid of the dark, Pineapple-Shaped Lamps presents an evening of blood-curdling campfire stories and a murder most foul.

Show Times: Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets

If you dream of the dark side and don’t find images and stories of death too daunting, then “In Memorium: A Victorian Mourning Evening” at The Latimer House might satisfy your curiosity. The house will be decorated to represent death in the Victorian era and a funeral wake will be re-enacted by members of the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society. Although the house is not haunted, you might want to bring a friend. Tickets available at the door.

Tours: Friday, October 25, every 30 mins between 7:00 p.m.

On the main stage at Thalian Hall this weekend, US International Ballet and Wilmington Ballet Company present “Vampires, The Return.” This dramatic ballet with spectacular special effects is performed by professional dancers from five different countries. Last year’s premiere was a sell-out so the choreographers have upped the ante with two new spine-tingling scenes.

Show Times: Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets

If you’re in the mood to party, head to Wilmington’s premiere sports pub, Hell’s Kitchen. Don your creepiest costume and gather with friends at the Monster's Ball costume party. There will be great food and drink specials, a costume contest and live music from Blind Justice. No cover charge!

Saturday, October 26 - Trivia starts at 7:30 p.m., live music at 9:30 p.m., costume contest at midnight.
