As a community, Downtown Wilmington has many things to be thankful for this year. Local businesses rallied after the storm to help neighbors with repairs and to help people throughout the community overcome the effects of the biggest storm our region has seen in a long time. Funds raised during the OverFlo campaign, a collaborative effort by Downtown businesses, will benefit local charities instrumental in recovery efforts for local families.

Families with children in need of coats can benefit from a fundraiser being held Friday 16th at Hell’s Kitchen – Stuff the Coat, not the Turkey. This has become a great tradition for Hell's Kitchen to team up with the Wilmington Fire Department Local 129 for a great night of fundraising, starting at 6:00 p.m. to raise money for Operation Warm. Fun Thanksgiving activities for children are at the heart of an event being held Downtown, Saturday 17th at the Children’s Museum of Wilmington. The Little Chef’s Turkey Takeover from 9:00 a.m. – noon will entertain your children and tempt your taste-buds! Make Thanksgiving-themed crafts and treats, enjoy a live performance from Mr. Scooter the StoryYeller and experience CMoW's take on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Although not related to Thanksgiving, Riverfest is this weekend. This Downtown event celebrates our City’s connection to the river and was re-scheduled because of the hurricane. As always, Riverfest promises to be lots of fun for everyone. It includes craft vendors, concessions booths, a children’s play area, entertainment, Saturday night fireworks and more.
