The Ambassador Cleaning Team puts the Pressure on Downtown Sidewalks

Posted Oct 21st, 2019 in Feat of the Week

This weekend’s Ironman Triathlon generated a lot of foot traffic in Downtown Wilmington which is always great for merchants, restaurants and entertainment venues. However, an increase in visitors can sometimes result in stained sidewalks from sidewalk dining, take-out food and beverages, and normal wear and tear.

Once the crowds disperse, the City of Wilmington street-cleaning crew and the Municipal Service District (MSD) Ambassadors begin work on the streets and sidewalks to get them clean again. The Ambassadors located a number of different areas that required attention after the triathlon including the North Front Street access to Vance Alley and in front of Cape Fear Wine and Beer. These stained sidewalks were cleaned using a pressure washer. Other areas will be cleaned as needed.

The MSD Ambassador clean team members are also responsible for removing graffiti and stickers and picking up surplus trash. They can be recognized by their dark green shirts. Having this service is a great benefit to all who shop, live, work or play downtown.

If you know of any other areas in need of attention, please call or text an Ambassador 910.524.3600 during these hours: Mon-Thurs 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., Fri/Sat 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Sun 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
