The Ambassadors Help People From All Walks of Life

Posted Mar 11th, 2019 in Feat of the Week

The Municipal Service District Ambassadors are a valuable resource in the Downtown Wilmington community. While on patrol in the central business district each day, they encounter people from all walks of life.

The Ambassadors are a useful resource for visitors seeking information about parking, attractions, shops, restaurants, entertainment venues and non-retail services. They are also on hand to assist people who may be down on their luck and may have more basic needs like food, shelter, clothing or medical care. If these needs are not being met, the Ambassadors can direct them to local organizations that provide essential services. These may include charitable groups that offer meals, showers and clothing, or human service programs that provide assistance with housing, benefits, health care and jobs.

The Ambassadors regularly give out Street Sheets that provide a comprehensive list of local resources, to people in need. This can be a valuable first step for those who have fallen on hard times.

The Ambassadors can be reached during operating hours by phone or text at 910.524.3600 or via email at The team works seven days a week, from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. from Mondays through Thursday.  Hours on Fridays and Saturday are 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Sunday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

If you want to help make a difference to people less fortunate than yourself, you can donate to the Have A Heart Give Smart program and help those in need transition to a better life. Donating directly to local charitable organizations instead of to an individual person is a better long-term solution.
