The Ambassadors Were Quick to Respond to Recent Graffiti

Posted Jun 3rd, 2019 in Feat of the Week

Several places in Downtown Wilmington were targeted by a graffiti vandal over the weekend. Addressing graffiti vandalism is one of the roles of the Municipal Service District’s Ambassadors. After receiving reports of graffiti, they were quick to respond.

Initially, the graffiti is photographed and reported to the police. Once the building owner’s permission has been granted, the Ambassadors work quickly to remove or paint over offensive wording or graphic images. On this occasion, one area had to be treated twice after a repeat offense. Another area has yet to be treated because the surface will not tolerate the usual paint or cleaning materials.

Damage caused by graffiti vandals is unappealing to locals and visitors. Downtown residents and business owners want to keep the central business district clean and free of blight so everyone can enjoy our beautiful city.

If you encounter any suspicious activity or see graffiti in Downtown Wilmington, please call the police at 910.452.6120. Also, please report any building damage to the Ambassadors by phone or text at 910.524.3600 during operating hours (see below). Or, email
