One of the many beautiful aspects of the holiday season is the wonderful array of events to choose from to entertain you and your friends and family in Downtown Wilmington. With only 18 shopping days left, you should definitely include these events in your weekend wish list.
The Holiday Flea at BAC starts today and runs through Sunday. The Brooklyn Arts Center promises this is the biggest and best flea yet! More than 50 of the finest local and regional vendors will present one-of-a-kind vintage, retro, up-cycled, and fabulous treasures to make your holiday shopping a pleasure.
Hours: Friday, 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Details
After shopping at the Holiday Flea, stop at The Cotton Exchange to continue your shopping spree in the 30 boutique shops nestled in the three historic buildings. Dine at one of the restaurants and visit Santa in the afternoon.
Hours: Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, noon – 4:00 p.m.
Be sure to visit the Hannah Block Historic USO Community Arts Center where the Orange Street Pottery Holiday Sale is being held on Saturday.
This is a great place to find unique pottery handmade by local ceramic artists.
Hours: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
A FREE public event is also being held at the Community Arts Center to commemorate Pearl Harbor Day.
Although the ceremony begins at 1:25 p.m., the event begins an hour earlier with coffee and donuts and a medley of WWII-era songs.
Hours: Saturday, from 12:30 p.m.
The USS Battleship North Carolina is also having a worldwide ham radio operator event to commemorate the December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor. This will be a great way to mark this significant date.
Hours: Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
The Lower Cape Fear Historical Society guarantees to warm your heart with the Old Wilmington by Candlelight tour after dark. Join the tour and you can enjoy 13 historic sites that are fully decorated for the season. Tours: Saturday & Sunday, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
And finally, be sure to check out the City of Wilmington Holiday Parade on Sunday starting at 6:25 p.m.
Whatever you choose to do this weekend, get in the holiday spirit and enjoy some of the many festive activities in Downtown Wilmington. You can even hop on the FREE Port City Trolley at one of the many stops on its downtown route.
