The Riverfront Farmers’ Market is Thriving on Dock Street

Posted Jul 26th, 2019 in Weekend Wish List

If you love to shop in Downtown Wilmington and support local farmers, the Riverfront Farmers’ Market is the place for you. Held from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. every Saturday on the 100 block of Dock Street through November 24 this year, the market is packed with vendors selling a wide selection of goods.

Some vendors have been selling their products at this farmers’ market for years like Choco Geo and Davis Seafood and have a lot of repeat customers. Others are new and eager to become your go-to place for their product.

You can select plants, fruits and vegetables from growers like Hanchey’s Produce, Backyard Garden and Wild Meadow Farm that are fresh and inviting. The flowers from Castle Hayne Farms and Lizzy Lou’s Family Farm are vibrant and colorful. If you’re looking for fresh herbs, Shelton Herb Farm sells a variety of plants that will supply you with enough culinary flavor to last throughout the summer.

My Porch Dawg and Kritter Couture & More have everything you need for your furry friends. From all-natural, healthy treats to specialist products like essential oils and bug repellant, they have it all.

A newcomer to the market, Longboard Coffee Roaster will fulfill your coffee needs with freshly roasted beans. Judging by the wonderful aroma of the coffee beans, it will quickly gain a loyal following. Another relative newcomer who joined the market toward the end of last year, is Ithaca Acres Creamery. This vendor has a goat farm near Fayetteville and produces goat cheese in a variety of delicious flavors like lemon blueberry and cranberry honey walnut. You really need to try the samples to appreciate this. They also sell soaps and lotions.

Another product to try that is gaining popularity is kombucha. Produced by Panacea brewing, this drink is touted for its numerous health benefits. Elderberry syrup, available from a different vendor, is another healthy tonic to add to your shopping list.

There are many other vendors to check out each week. Get there early if you want the pick of the produce and to snag some of the fresh baked goods because they don’t last long.

It’s hot outside at this time of year so Smart Smoothies is at the market selling ice-cold drinks to cool you down. Otherwise, you can always get refreshments at one of the many pubs, eateries or entertainment venues in Downtown Wilmington.

Hours: Saturdays: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
