Theatre lovers can rejoice this holiday season because the theaters of Downtown Wilmington are staging 12 festive shows to delight audiences of all ages.

The First Festive Show is 1 of 3 different versions of The Nutcracker being presented this year!
Ballet for Young Audiences – The Nutcracker
This 60-minute narrated ballet tells the story of Clara, a young girl, who is transported to a magical land where she fights giant mice, meets the Sugar Plum Fairy, and dances with the Nutcracker Prince. At Thalian Hall, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Event Details

 

The Second Festive Show is another version of The Nutcracker!
City Ballet – A Carolina Nutcracker
This is a full-length traditional production of the beloved holiday ballet.

The Third Festive Show is by 3 Redneck Tenors!
A 3 Redneck Tenors – Xmas Spec-Tac-Yule-Ar
This show has been described as “downhome laughs with big city music”, pulling from Gospel, Country, Broadway, Pop, and Classical influences. At Thalian Hall, Dec 19. Event Details

 

The Fourth Festive Show is the holiday movie, “Elf,” which has a matinee at 4!

This festive movie is about Buddy (Will Ferrell) who was accidentally transported to the North Pole as a toddler and raised to adulthood among Santa's elves. The fun starts when he travels to New York in search of his father. At Thalian Hall, Dec 17 and 18. Event Details

 

The Fifth Festive Show is the final version of The Nutcracker and features dancers from 5 countries! Wilmington Ballet Co. presents, The Greater Wilmington Nutcracker
A winner of Encore Magazine’s “Best Theatrical Show in Wilmington”, this production features unique elements including aerial artists, stilt walkers, high-tech digital imagery, and more. At The Wilson Center, CFCC, Dec 15 and 16. Event Details

A Christmas Carol

The Seventh Festive Show is the return of “It’s a Wonderful Life” after 7 successful screenings!

Frank Capra’s iconic holiday film is now a Wilmington holiday tradition, shown as it was meant to be seen: on the big screen.

The Eighth Festive Show features 8 performances of another elf at work.
The Santaland Diaries!
This hilarious comedy, written by David Sedaris, looks at the misadventures of working for Macy's Santaland as a disgruntled Santa’s elf.
