You can't beat this for holiday entertainment. Theaters in Downtown Wilmington are staging 12 festive shows to delight audiences of all ages.
The First Festive Show is 1 of 3 different versions of “The Nutcracker” being presented this year!
Ballet for Young Audiences – The Nutcracker
This 60-minute narrated ballet tells the story of Clara, a young girl, who is transported to a magical land where she fights giant mice, meets the Sugar Plum Fairy, and dances with the Nutcracker Prince.
At Thalian Hall, Dec. 6 and 7.
The Second Festive Show: “Elf,” is being held over 2 weekends.
Staged by Thalian Association Community Theater, this hilarious fish-out-of-water comedy follows Buddy the Elf in his quest to find his true identity. This is a great show to introduce children to theater.
At Thalian Hall, Dec. 13, 14, 15 and Dec. 20, 21, 22.
The Third Festive Show the film, “Jojo Rabbit,” is shown on 3 dates.
This film is part of the Cinematique series. Jojo is a lonely German boy who discovers that his single mother is hiding a Jewish girl in their attic.
At Thalian Hall, Dec 16, 17, 18.
The Fourth Festive Show is “The Carolina Nutcracker” and features a 4th element.
City Ballet is joined by professional guest artists from the Carolina Ballet to produce a show with all the classic elements—Drosselmeyer, the Mouse King, and the Sugar-Plum Fairy. The fourth element is the setting: 1865 Bellamy Mansion.

The Fifth Festive Show is the final version of “The Nutcracker” and features dancers from 5 countries!
This collaboration between the Wilmington Ballet Company and the US International ballet features unique elements including aerial artists, stilt walkers, high-tech digital imagery, and more.
At the Wilson Center, CFCC, Dec 14 and 15.
The Sixth Festive Show is only 6 days before Christmas…”A Merry Country Christmas.”
Songs of fun, faith, and hope are brought to you in this delightful production of heartfelt holiday music by some of the finest musicians and singers.

The Seventh Festive Show is a comedy fundraiser held on December 7.
Uncultured Comedy presents “A Dog Gone Stand-Up Comedy Show.” Proceeds will benefit the GIO fund, a local non-profit, no-kill. animal rescue organization.

The Eighth Festive Show is the “Holiday Pops” and is 8 days before Christmas.
The North Carolina Symphony promises a spectacular evening featuring festive music and an audience sing-along to celebrate the season.

The Ninth Festive Show is the 9th annual holiday screening of “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Frank Capra’s iconic holiday film is now a Wilmington holiday tradition, shown as it is meant to be seen: on the big screen. Bring the family and create holiday memories.

The Tenth Festive Show opens on December 10 and is brought to you by The Illusionists.
“The Magic of the Holidays,” presented by the Illusionists, will blow your mind. This non-stop show is packed with thrilling and sophisticated magic of unprecedented proportions.
At the Wilson Center, CFCC, Dec 10 and 11.
The Eleventh Festive Show is “A Christmas Carol” and you have 11 showtimes to choose from.
Tony Rivenbark brings Ebeneezer Scrooge to life in the Theatre Exchange’s adaptation of Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol,” a timeless story of Christmas redemption in the depression era.
At Thalian Hall, Dec 11, 12, 13, 14 (2 shows), 15, 19, 20, 21 (2 shows) and 22.
The Twelfth Festive Show is “Santaland Diaries” and you have 12 show dates to choose from.
This hilarious comedy, written by David Sedaris, looks at the misadventures of working for Macys’ Santaland as a disgruntled Santa’s elf. For mature audiences only!
