Wilmington, NC- Wilmington's signature summertime concert series returns for its 14th season in Downtown. The Downtown Sundown Concert Series presented by Outdoor Equipped will run each Friday night from May 24 through August 30, 2019. The free event is from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and features both local performers and touring bands. Wilmington Downtown Incorporated (WDI) organizes and directs the event.
Charity Wristband Program: As a way to involve more local residents and help support other community organizations, WDI partners with area nonprofit agencies to sell and split the proceeds from wristbands sold at the event. Wristbands cost $1 and can be purchased by people who are 21 and older and want to enjoy beer and wine during the show. Last year, WDI raised and donated over $10,600 to area nonprofits through this wristband program.
WDI will use a Facebook voting process to select nine charitable organizations to participate in the 2019 season. The remaining organizations will be selected by a review committee based on their mission and community impact.
WDI is now accepting applications from any charity interested in participating this season. Applications are available here.
Applications are due by February 22, 2019. Completed applications can be returned via email at email@example.com, mailed to PO Box 2235, Wilmington, NC 28402 or delivered to 221 N. Front Street, Suite 102 during normal business hours.
The Downtown Sundown Concert Series is a free, family-friendly event that attracts both local residents and out of town visitors. The concerts are designed to provide interesting and fun entertainment for attendees, spur interest and activity at surrounding shops, restaurants and attractions during the early evening hours and to raise funds for WDI's downtown development effort. Last year, over 30,000 people attended the DTSD concerts.
