Wilmington, NC- Nonnie Doodle Sweets and Treats recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark its official opening at 200 Market Street, Unit 120. The event was attended by friends and family along with Wilmington Mayor Pro-Tem Margaret Haynes. Wilmington Downtown, Inc. (WDI) officiated the event.
Noonie Doodle Sweets and Treats is a retail shop that offers various candies, kid’s stuff and party goods. Co-owners, Katie and Greg Guthrie named the store combing their two daughters’ nicknames.
“My desire to be a business owner started as a child with lemonade and Kool-Aid stands and selling gel pens to my friends at school”, says Katie. “When Greg and I had the opportunity to open a bright cheery candy shop on Bald Head Island, we knew we wanted to replicate it in downtown Wilmington, and jumped at the chance to do so when we found the right location.”
The store is located along the Market Street side of the new building. Upon entering the shop, visitors are greeted with a large display case with dozens of candy varieties. Customers can grab handy plastic bags and scoop out as much bulk candy as they want. Bulk candies are charged by the pound. The shop offers a range of other items such as pre-wrapped candy, party supplies, piñatas, drawing supplies and tee shirts.
“WDI is happy to welcome Katie and Greg into their new downtown space,” said President Ed Wolverton. “They are a great addition and expand Downtown’s retail selection by having a fun, family-friendly business,” he said.
